In 1987 the Cultural Center property, a former
school of metaphysics, was purchased and began serving as a
temple. Over the next five years, the grounds were
landscaped, the buildings renovated and Govinda's Buffet opened.
The Center operates as a non-profit corporation and is named after
Lord Chaitanya, a incarnation of Krishna who appeared in the 15th
century to propagate the chanting of the Lord's holy names. The
weekly schedule includes daily worship times and an extended
Sunday program and feast.
