India Tours Next Tour: Departs January 5th, 2009 Tentative Itinerary: Day 1-2 Fly to Bangkok, Thailand for 2 day cultural tour Day 3 Fly to Calcutta, India and drive via taxi to Mayapur, a four hour drive. Day 4-7 Mayapur is one of the most holy and peaceful places in all of India. Over one million pilgrims come here each year; also the well known birthplace of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the avatar of Lord Krishna for this age. We will be guests of a spiritual city that is nearing completion and is situated right along the banks of the sacred river Ganges. Day 8 Catch a flight to Bhuvaneshvar, Orissa, and take a taxi to Jagannath Puri, which is the site of the famous Jagannath temple. Day 9-11 Orissa is a tropical state located on the east coast of India, south of West Bengal. This state has a long and renowned history and some of the most beautiful scenery in India. We will be staying at a beach front hotel and visiting daily such wonders as the Sun Temple at Konark and the monumental Jagannath Temple, built more than 3000 years ago. Day 12 Flight to India's capital, New Delhi, located in north central India, taxi to Vrindavan. Day 13-17 Visit India's most sacred of all places, Vrindavan, the birthplace of Lord Shri Krishna and home of more than 5000 temples. While here, there are many holy and archeological places for us to discover. Day 18-20 Visit the "Pink Coty" of Jaipur with all its' extravagant forts and palaces, take an elephant ride to Amber Fort, and spend a night in the holy town of Pushkar Lake, the only place in India that hosts a temple of Lord Brahma. Day 21 Bus to Agra, home of the Taj Mahal, a one hour ride from Vrindavan. Day 22 Our trip next takes us to New Delhi exploring India's famed capital - the Red Fort, Ghandi Gate, Lotus Temple, etc. and fabulous, inexpensive shopping. Day 23-25 Take a taxi to Haridvar and Hrisikesh, a 5 hour drive north of Delhi. These two sacred spots are right on the Ganges as it purely comes out of the Himalayan foothills. Day 26 Return to Delhi; stay overnight. Day 28 Return flight to the U.S.A. arriving back on about the 11th of December.
