Born in Kenya and educated in India, Shashi D. Patel
graduated in Architecture in 1968 from the School of
Architecture, Ahmedabad, India. He attended graduate
school at Carnegie Mellon University, 1973. Mr. Patel is
President of Shashi D. Patel and Associates; Architects and
Planners, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Shashi Patel has been
responsible for designing more than 24 temples in the United
States as well as works in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. One
of his outstanding North American projects is the Sri Ganesha Temple in
Nashville, Tennessee shown in the picture to the left. Mr. Patel serves on many
boards, including the following; member of the Board of
Hindu Heritage Research Foundation and trustee and member of the
Executive Building Committee, Hindu Temple of North
America. He is also a member of the American Institute of
Architects as well as Chief Planner & Advisor to Rawal
International Group of Companies, Nairobi, Kenya. Mr. Patel has received numerous awards for his
outstanding architectural designs world-wide. He received
the Arthur Ross Award, Classical America for his design of the
addition to the State Capital building in Harrisburg, PA and the
"Golden Arch Award" for excellence from the NRI
institute in New Delhi, India. |
